ISQ Flip-it: Is your glass half full or half empty? ISQ Flip-it is a spiritual game about the direction your future will take; a method for turning fear into hope and hope into ideas that have traction. This is a great game to use in a spiritual group.
1. Have 4 scraps of paper and some sticky post-it notes on hand.
2. Label each scrap of paper with one of the following words: Fear – Hope – Traction – Flip it
3. Think about your relationships, the future, jobs or business, health, political, or spiritual fears. Use sticky post-it notes to write down the ‘Fears’ you’re experiencing in these areas and post them on the sheet marked ‘Fear’.
4. While you’re thinking, please use Guidance Cards to spur your imagination during this entire process. Guidance Cards
5. Discussion: Spend time discussing these fears with others in the group, or just think about them if you’re in a personal meditation.
6. Try to flip some of your fears into ‘Hope’ and write new post-it notes showing how you might transform a fear into a new hope.
7. Discussion: Spend time discussing the new, hopeful ways of thinking that occur with others in the group, or just think about them if you’re in a personal meditation.
8. Post-it and Flip-it!! Looking at your ‘Hope’ notes, think about which notes have the greatest potential; think about which hopes you might be able to take practical action on and add these to the paper labeled ‘Flip-it’. Remember to use the Guidance Cards at any time during this game.
9. Now let's give your ideas some traction! Write post-it notes on another sheet of paper labeled ‘Traction’ based on the hopes you feel you can take practical action on – and flip-it – using only the most practical and probable ideas from the ‘Flip-it’ paper.
10. Discussion: Spend time discussing the ideas posted on the ‘Traction’ paper with others in the group, or just think about them if you’re in a personal meditation.
When we acknowledge our fears and flip them into hope in this exercise, we discover ideas that have traction, or potential; and we begin to see how we can change things, moving our lives in a more positive direction.
Take the 4 sheets of paper along with your post-it notes home with you as an inspirational reminder throughout the week. Best wishes for a blessed and hope-filled future!
